SummaryBRUNEI PATENT Any person who obtained a grant of a patent in the U.K. or Malaysia or Singapore may apply to the Ministry of Law within three years of the date of issue of such grant to have such grant registered in Brunei Darussalam under the Invention Act (Cap 72). All applications received by the Registry are examined on formal matters only. the Registry does not examine as to substantive requirement. Once registered, the validity of the patent continues in force in Brunei Darussalam only for as long as it is in force in the country in which the patent was granted.
